I don’t want to set the world on fire

They don’t write songs like these any more. This song was written in the year 1941 so it was a heck of a long time ago! It was during Hitler’s reign of terror so you could imagine the dust on this tune. The lyrics are so short and sweet! They’ve been stuck in my head for the past day and a half but I don’t mind since it is a such a lovely tune. They used this song in a fallout 3 trailer, which i think is very fitting. It is a post-apocalyptic music video and I think that you’ll enjoy it.

I don’t want to set the world on fire
I just want to start
A flame in your heart
In my heart I have but one desire
And that one is you
No other will do

I’ve lost all ambition for worldly acclaim
I just want to be the one you love
And with your admission that you feel the same
I’ll have reached the goal I’m dreaming of

Believe me!
I don’t want to set the world on fire
I just want to start
A flame in your heart

I don’t want to set the world on fire, or maybe I do…

So you think you can stone me and spit in my eye

February 17, 2009 at 11:28 am (Music)

Mama,just killed a man,
Put a gun against his head,
Pulled my trigger,now hes dead,
Mama,life had just begun,
But now Ive gone and thrown it all away-
Mama ooo,
Didnt mean to make you cry-
If Im not back again this time tomorrow-
Carry on,carry on,as if nothing really matters

Another one of my favourite songs over the ages. This one is written by queen and sung by Freddie mercury, also known as Farrokh Bulsara, our part Persian, part Indian singer born in Zanzibar. It is a shame that he passed away but he did leave behind a legacy. This song is called Bohemian rhapsody and you either love it, or hate it. Since I chose to have it in my blog, it is safe to say that I love it. Not as much because of the way it sounds, more the way it was made. It is one of the few songs that manages to mix rock, lounge, barbershop and pop in different parts of the song and still make it sound good and not to squishy. (Yes, I like the word squishy). I first heard it in ye old days, when I was but a little boy learning the trades of life and now I pass it on to you. Tis a sad day when people no longer remember the antics of good ol Freddie.

And for a minute there, I lost myself

Karma Police is another one of those songs that’s close to my heart. I spent many hours of my time in Spain listening to just this song. Lying there under the start and just lose myself. Every time I listen to this song, my mind easily drifts away and I lose touch with reality. It is the melody of the song that gets to me, and the voice of the singer. I first heard this song when I was very young and the video was as amazing then as it is now. It is an extremely low-budget video that fits the song perfectly and the message is really clear.

In the end, everything catches up to you.

beautifully poetic or just ravings from another deranged hermit.

There are certain songs people never forget. They lurk in the back of your heads just waiting for the right moment to pop out and say “Hey! Remember me?”. Some people call them oldies but goldies, others refer to them as one hit wonders. I just call them for what they are. Superb creations of pure genius putting most artists today to shame! I loved the music from the 90s, partly because these are the songs I grew up with. By now, you might wonder. “What the hell is this guy talking about?”

I am talking about the lyrics for the song Zoo Babylon – Spaceman.

I haven’t heard this song in many years but I will never forget the chorus. Not because of the lovely melody or the music video. It is the lyrics! After all these years, I still can’t decide whether the lyrics are the ravings of another deranged hermit or if they are misunderstood poetry.

It is mostly the chorus that interests me. It basically goes “Spaceman, I’ve always wanted you to go into space, man!” It feels like something a squirrel high on something green would say. If you listen to the rest of the lyrics, you will just be more confused. Personally, I like it! Click Here for a direct link to the lyrics.
